Installed in Spectacle Eye Shop

Design, Production, and Installation: Kayleigha Zawacki
I searched between the crimes in recycledBoston Globe newspapers for articles about community building, preservation, and selflessness. Between the Crimes was an effort to make all the good in the Boston community into "front page" news.
Each sculpture is a re-creation of a Boston landmark or icon—places and objects that exist only there. The transparent spaces are filled with evidence of community building and celebration. They glow as if to shed light on the positive aspects of our city. The opaque areas—the articles normally featured—become almost illegible.
The photographs accompanying each icon strive to capture a moment where something mundanely familiar becomes truly spectacular.
